About Canned Laughter

Canned Laughter is a London-based charity night raising food and funds for local foodbanks. We’ve been fighting food poverty with laughter since our first show in Walthamstow in 2017.

Our premise is simple: wherever the gig is, we partner with the local food bank and ask our guests to bring along 5+ food-bank-friendly items to donate. All proceeds from ticket sales are also donated to help the food bank team put the money towards whichever items they’re most in need of.

To date, we have raised over £75,000 which has been shared among food banks in London.

In the past, our stage has been graced by some truly amazing guests, including Nick Helm, Lolly Adefope, Ed Gamble, Angelos Epithemiou, Aisling Bea, Mae Martin, Jamali Maddix, Desiree Burch, Tom Allen and Russell Kane!

Canned Laughter are the best! Night after night the line-up of comics is stellar.

If you want a great night out, for not much money and help a local charity, this is the place to come.

We can’t thank Kenny Tanner, Ali Severs-Ruiz and the team enough for all the support and love they have shown Eat or Heat. Huge love and thanks to Max and Ruth Peters (the team behind The CentrE17), for providing the wonderful venue.

It all started when…

Three friends, with a mutual love of comedy, sent an email to Gary Nash, Chair at Eat or Heat, on 29 August 2017, with an idea. Canned Laughter was born not long after, with one goal in mind: to raise integral food & funds for London's food banks. What originally started as a casual stand up night in partnership with Eat or Heat has developed over the year to a city-wide operation with a real variety in shows and guests. We are continuing to fight food poverty throughout the Covid-19 pandemic through our Gofund Me campaign. All donations are so greatly appreciated and any money raised will be shared evenly between Eat or Heat in Walthamstow and Euston Foodbank.

With sadly more people than ever needing support from Wandsworth Foodbank, we so appreciate fundraising like this which enables us to continue providing emergency food and support to local people in crisis.
